ARNHA is a nonprofit organization started in 1981 to support educational and interpretive activities principally in the American River Parkway in cooperation with the county's Effie Yeaw Nature Center. It provides critical fundraising, volunteer and advisory support for the Nature Center's mission to introduce thousands of school children each year to the beauty and diversity of the Parkway. Here children as well as visitors of all ages learn the importance of conserving and protecting Sacramento’s most precious natural resource. Join Online!
We are members of the American River Parkway Coalition along with American River Parkway Foundation and Save the American River Association.
The Parkway Coalition combines the strength and resources of these three organizations. It reacts to projected budget shortfalls threatening Parkway closure and the related maintenance and safety issues. The Coalition also looks for ways to educate and involve Parkway users in the continuing quest for short and long-term funding for the American River Parkway.

In keeping with its mission of Bringing People to Nature...and Nature to People, ARNHA publishes these and other books exploring the natural and human history of the American River in the greater Sacramento area.
Special thanks to nature photographers Betty Cooper, Allan Jones, Randy Smith, and George Turner for the use of their American River Parkway photography on this website.
